PROVIDING YOUR CHILD OR ADOLESCENT WITH INTENSIVE ONE-ON-ONE INTERVENTIONS!
FUNCTIONAL BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENT
Involves measuring the child’s actual behavior, observing what they actually do in one or more settings where the child is experiencing some sort of behavioral difficulty. Once the behavior is defined and measured, careful consideration is taken to select interventions to directly target the problem behavior.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
Not basing the intervention on the specific cause, often results in ineffective and unnecessarily restrictive procedures. Without an adequate functional behavioral assessment, we would not know the true function of a specific behavior and therefore may select an inappropriate intervention for the behavior.
